“Great stories happen to those who can tell them.” – Ira Glass
…and no one tells them quite like Ken Moran. He’s seen and done much in his 90 years, and has an anecdote or snappy remark for every occasion. Long had he hinted at having an oral history ready to share, and over the course of three chilly evenings in the fall of 2021 we finally sat down to record them. In our first conversation, I sat across from him in the community room of the The Pillars, while soft jazz played in the background. In front of me was a list of prepared interview questions. I clicked “record” and suggested he introduce himself as a test. As you’ll soon hear, neither the test nor the questions were necessary. He knew what he wanted to say. In the following recordings Ken shares his greatest story, his own.
